Athletic Training at Phoenix Children’s Hospital
Our Sports Medicine Program includes athletic trainers, who work alongside our physicians and staff in clinics, as well as with athletes and coaches in the community.
Athletic trainers are health care professionals who work under the direction of a supervising physician to care for patients and athletes. Our athletic trainers perform physical examinations of patients to aid in establishing diagnosis and treatment plans in conjunction with our sports medicine physicians. They also have expertise in performing rehabilitation of sports-related injuries as part of an athletes’ established treatment plan.
In addition to their work in our Sports Medicine Program clinics, our athletic trainers serve the community at sporting events and games throughout the Valley, monitoring and treating athletes for sports and orthopedic-related injuries.
